Creating A Time Schedule

Creating a time schedule for nail competitions is imperative to ensure that you finish in the allotted time given to complete your full set of nails.

The best way to create a time schedule is by practicing and timing each step. When applying practice sets, keep a clock at your table and have your model track your time.

Always remember to allow extra time for any unexpected obstacles that may occur or any re-do’s you may have to do. Also, allow extra time to double check your work!

The following time schedules are just examples, yours may vary depending on your skill level and speed. You can adjust your schedule to your needs.

  • Time Saving Tips

  • Have your table organized. Know where things are and make it easy to get to them.
  • Have your models nails prepped before competition begins.
  • Know which hand you are going to polish before the start of competition.
  • Always start working on the polished hand first. This will help to relieve jitters and build momentum.
  • Memorize or write down your hand models tip sizes prior to competition.
  • If allowed, have your model's nail forms already pre-fitted and ready to go.
  • When applying tips, use a resin activator to speed the drying process.
  • Do not spend extra time perfecting smile lines on the unpolished hand. Your polish covers them.
  • Perform and check each step on all 10 nails before going on to the next step.
